PART A
1) a) What are various methods for testing of bricks?
b) Explain well foundation with neat sketch
c) Draw the plan of alternate courses in English bond for cross junction of 2 walls of
1 ½ brick thickness
d) Compare English bond & Flemish bonds.
e) (i) Explain principle of surveying.
(ii) What are the compensating errors in chaining?
PART B
2) Explain different types of steel roofs trusses with sketches

3) Write short notes on : (i) Datum plane (ii) Horizontal surface (iii) Level surface
(iv) Reduced level
4) What is shallow foundation? Explain different types of shallow foundations.

5) The following consecutive readings were taken with a dumpy level
0.894 , 1.643 ,2.896 ,3.016 ,0.954 ,0.582 ,0.251 ,1.532, 0.996, 2.135
The instrument was shifted after the 4th&8th readings.First reading was taken on
BM of RL 820.765 m . Calculate the RLs of points & also the usual checks.
